Loosing my mind!

August 29th, 2008

Seriously, is it THAT hard to learn the difference between lose and loose?  Loose, moose, goose, caboose. Do you pronounce them Looz, mooz, gooz and cabooz?

It's a basic spelling concept, guys.  I can understand a typo, it happens, but you do it ALL.THE.GODDAMNED.TIME!

You don't LOOSE your voice, you LOSE it!

Arghh

Oh, and while you're at it, can you please learn to punctuate?   Your run-on sentences are driving me nuts!

So... how's your day been?

Happy Fucking Birthday!

August 12th, 2008

I have some interesting information for those of you who are about to turn 50.

You are about to receive a surprise from the Australian Government.

No, it isn't a birthday card from the Prime Minister or the Queen.

It's a Bowel Cancer Screening Test Kit.

When I first saw this photo I was reduced to tears, she is just so beautiful.

Congratulations baby girl, I love you very much.

With love from your favourite, most attractive and completely awesome aunt :)

P.S. I just love that you wore thongs!  It's SO you!

I'm comfortable with the fact, for now, that today I am 50.

Brad, of course, will be running his tail off spoiling me rotten, as usual. In fact at midnight he took me to Krispy Kreme for my first birthday coffee, he has downloaded a girlie movie, that no self respecting male would admit to watching and he is currently baking me birthday oatmeal cookies.

....and it's only 2:15am. Heh

So, it will be a Maccas birthday breakfast, followed by an Italian birthday dinner, with lots of birthday fun and snacks in between.

OOOOOO, maybe we can do a birthday Dark Knight screening?

The possibilities are endless!

If you haven't seen it, do it, it's funny shit!  The funny slows down a lot in the last third, but it's still well worth watching.

Hippo Butt

Are you a fat arsed hippo?

My desire to lose weight before embarking on our San Francisco Adventure has never amounted to anything, but now I have been given a little incentive.

There are a bunch of us, thanks to a challenge from Leigh, who are going to be 'cutting the fat' and  competing against each other to lose the most weight.

So, get off your fat arses and join in the fun.

I'm aiming for ten kilos.  What's your goal?

For Sale!

....that selling your house really sucks?

You make the decision about price and know that they are going to screw you down, so you have have to allow for that in your asking price..... yet how much is too much?  How much can you put on your house without it scaring off buyers?

It's a fine line, I know that, but everyone wants to get the maximum price for the home they and their family have lived in for the last however many years.

The market is currently diving (Hello Murphy!)  so it may not be easy to sell, however we have had one couple through twice now and they have arranged to come again next Saturday with a builder to do full inspection.  It's encouraging, but what will they find?

It's an old house, so there is always something to find and fix, things we don't notice because we have been here for so long.  I hate to think.  The tension is awful.

Wish us luck!

If you want to win one too, visit Joeprah for the chance.

Not that any of you  are going to have a chance against me, but you can give it a go!

I'd wish you all good luck, but I wouldn't really mean it  :P

I have now fulfilled all obligations to gain maximum advantage over all you losers

A regulatory battle over a radio broadcast of the routine ultimately reached the US Supreme Court, which ruled that the words cited in Carlin's routine were indecent and that the government's broadcast regulator could ban them from being aired at times when children might be listening. Old Friends

Rosie and Greg

Memories are wonderful things.

I am on the verge of turning 50 and I have recently regained contact with a very dear friend after almost ten years. If you don't count the twice I have seen her in the previous 5 years, we can count it as 15.

Rosie and I met when we were both living in Fiji. We had joined Fiji Women's Club, as neither of us are good at being idle, and we were not allowed to work. We found in each other the same wicked sense of humour, an appreciation of the dark and ridiculous and we both loved to drink!

We spent a lot of time together laughing over a bad golf shot, and there were PLENTY of those (who could ever forget Rosie, her club and ball, walking to the next tee having a stern team talk *snort*), drinking at the 19th green, making bad hats for Easter, fabulous hats for Melbourne Cup Day and the interminable committee meetings which would always start AND end with a few drinks. When you can't legally work and you have a wonderful Fijian lady looking after your kids and doing your housework, it's amazing the shit you find amusing to fill in the time.

We had a common bond in that we were in a strange land, with no family or friends, and nothing to do, so we did nothing and everything together.

This week, I have been in contact with her again, and after all the years apart, it has been like talking to her over a beer on the balcony at the golf club in Suva. It's been amazing. Things I haven't thought about in years have popped to the surface and made me smile, cry and want to bury myself in a hole.

It's good to be back in contact Rosie, I loves ya babe!

Oh, and spank that gorgeous husband of yours for me, will ya?

So, what does all this have to do with me turning 50, you ask?  For the last few months I have been stressing over the fact that I don't have as much time in front of me as I have behind.  Then I am reminded that I have an incredible past, have lived an amazing life and have been blessed in so many ways.  I have done so many things that others may only dream of and I also have an incredibly bright future.  I have it all, at 50  :)
